Urja Global's Revenue Growth Masks Profitability Pressure

Urja Global's Q1 FY27 revenue grew 17.6% YoY, but profit growth lagged and margins contracted.

By HexaWealth Research

Urja Global's Q1 FY27 revenue showed strong year-on-year growth, but profit expansion was muted and net margins fell. The quarter also saw a sharp sequential revenue drop.

Urja Global reported a mixed set of numbers for the first quarter of FY27. While revenue showed healthy year-on-year growth, profitability came under pressure, with profit growth lagging significantly behind sales.

The company's revenue for Q1 FY27 stood at ₹13.28 crore, a solid 17.6% increase from the ₹11.29 crore reported in Q1 FY26. However, profit after tax (PAT) grew by only 3.3% to ₹0.62 crore, up from ₹0.60 crore a year ago. This divergence resulted in a net profit margin contraction of 70 basis points year-on-year, settling at 4.7%. Sequentially, the picture was inverted: revenue fell sharply by 23.3% from the previous quarter, but profit managed to grow 12.7%.

A look at the last five quarters reveals the underlying volatility.

This pattern suggests revenue has been fluctuating quarter-to-quarter, while profits have remained in a relatively tight band. The trailing twelve-month (TTM) performance shows a net profit margin of 4.2% on revenue of ₹60.53 crore and profit of ₹2.56 crore.

Key Points

  • The company maintains a very strong balance sheet, with a debt-to-equity ratio of just 0.05.
  • The stock has declined 27% over the past year, closing at ₹9.78 on the results date.
  • Valuation remains exceptionally high, with a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 481.1, significantly above the industry average.

Overall, the results highlight a top-line recovery on an annual basis but point to ongoing challenges in converting that growth into bottom-line strength. The coming quarters will be crucial for demonstrating more consistent operational performance and justifying its premium valuation.
