Stock Selection Strategy & Investment Philosophy

How a company earns a place in the satellite portfolio: quantitative screening first, then “The Story” behind the numbers.

01

Core Objective

The primary objective of selecting high-conviction, quality stocks within our Satellite Portfolio is to generate superior alpha at your overall portfolio level.

While the majority of your wealth remains safely anchored in a diversified Multi-Asset Core Portfolio, the high-conviction, quality stock selection within our Satellite Portfolio takes targeted, calculated exposures in exceptional businesses available at fair valuations to boost total portfolio returns.

02

Diversification & Risk Guardrails

Although the Satellite Portfolio targets high-conviction, high-growth compounding opportunities, selection is disciplined to maintain sector and industry-level diversification. We actively limit portfolio overlap and prevent over-concentration in any single theme, niche, or industrial cycle—ensuring that high alpha generation is achieved through a well-balanced, multi-sector basket of industry leaders.

Investment Horizon: What This Is (and What It Is Not)

What It Is Not

  • Not Short-Term Trading Ideas: We do not issue momentum trades with strict entry, exit, or stop-loss targets.

  • Not Tactical/Cyclical Plays: We avoid commodity or cyclical stories that display temporary earnings bursts before reverting to the mean.

What It Is

  • Structural Long-Term Investments: We focus exclusively on structural, long-term compounders—businesses benefiting from secular tailwinds that allow them to outperform broader GDP growth over extended periods.

  • Patient Capital: Designed for patient, long-term investors. We look to buy and hold great businesses for as long as their fundamental thesis remains intact, resisting the temptation to exit prematurely during sharp short-term rallies.

Long-Term Mindset & Patience Requirement

Because these are structural, fundamental-driven compounders, we do not give significant weight to short-term market volatility or drawdowns as long as the underlying investment thesis remains fully intact. Investing in satellite ideas requires genuine emotional and capital patience; make sure you enter these positions only if you have the conviction to hold through inevitable bumpy periods and interim market noise.

04

Exit Discipline: When Do We Sell?

Because these are long-term compounders, our holding period is thesis-driven, not price-driven.

  • Hold Through Volatility: We continue to hold high-performing stocks as long as their structural growth story, earnings visibility, and competitive moat remain intact.

  • Exit Trigger: We exit or re-allocate capital only when the underlying investment thesis breaks down, earnings trajectory deteriorates permanently, or corporate governance standards are compromised.

05

Quantitative Selection Framework: Screening the Universe

We begin by running rigorous quantitative filters across four critical fundamental pillars to build our preliminary stock universe:

Quantitative Screening

Quality

  • ROE & ROCE
  • OCF / Sales
  • OCF / EBITDA

Growth

  • Revenue Trajectory
  • Margin Trajectory

Institutional Holding

  • FII & DII Ownership Trends
  • Smart Money Validation

Valuation

  • PEG Ratio
  • Fair Value vs History & Peers
  1. 1.

Quality Metrics: High return ratios (ROE, ROCE) and strong cash conversion (Operating Cash Flow to Revenue and OCF to EBITDA).

  2. 2.

Growth Trajectory: Consistent, multi-year compounding in revenue, operating profit, and expanding margin profiles.

  3. 3.

Institutional Validation: Tracking institutional (FII/DII) holding trends to validate smart-money confidence and market liquidity.

  4. 4.

Valuation Discipline: Analyzing valuation multiples (P/E, PEG ratio, Price-to-Book) to ensure we pay a fair price per unit of growth and avoid buying into market euphoria.

06

Qualitative Deep-Dive: Sector Focus, “The Story”, & Management

Once a company satisfies our strict quantitative filters—demonstrating great quality, sustainable growth, institutional confidence, and fair valuation—we group these filtered stocks by sector and industry to begin our deep-dive qualitative research. We prioritize sectors expected to show strong structural macro tailwinds (e.g., financialization, manufacturing indigenization, specialty CDMO, energy transition) and evaluate two critical qualitative pillars:

Qualitative Deep-Dive

The Story

  • Structural vs. Cyclical Thesis
  • Forward-Looking Tech & Agility
  • Economic Moat & Entry Barriers
  • Scale & Pricing Power

Management & Integrity

  • Governance & Accounting Track Record
  • Execution Track Record

A. The Story

“The Story” is the central qualitative foundation of our stock selection process. Once a stock clears our quantitative screens, we analyze its story in-depth to ensure it is not just cheap or temporarily growing, but a true long-term compounder:

  • Structural vs. Cyclical: Is this a long-term, structural growth thesis or just a temporary, cyclical surge?

  • Forward-Looking & Agility: Is the company forward-looking, gaining market share, and adapting to modern technological shifts?

  • Economic Moat: What protects this business from new entrants? Does it have high entry barriers, proprietary technology, regulatory approvals, or pricing power?

B. Management & Integrity

  • Governance Record: A clean history with zero tolerance for accounting anomalies, fraud, or unethical practices.

  • Execution Track Record: Proven ability to deliver on stated plans: guidance met consistently, capacity expansions commissioned on time, and strategy translated into revenue and earnings growth quarter after quarter.

07

Technical Analysis: Execution & Entry Optimization

While technical analysis is not our primary driver, we leverage technical charts as a sanity check and timing tool:

  • Optimizing Entry Points: We use technical indicators to identify favorable risk-reward entry zones and avoid buying immediately into overextended, parabolic moves.

  • Managing Timing Risk: If a stock is fundamentally strong with a compelling story but facing short-term technical weakness or consolidation, we structure our entries in tranches rather than deploying capital all at once.
