Paramount Cosmetics (PARMCOS-B) Q2 FY27 Profit Doubles on Asset Sale as Revenue Crashes 68%

The company's Q2 FY27 net profit jumped 145% year-on-year, but its entire profit came from one-off asset sales and other income as core revenue collapsed.

By Vinayak Gandhi, CFA · Created 7 November 2026

Paramount Cosmetics reported a 145% surge in Q2 FY27 net profit to ₹0.27 crore. However, revenue plunged 68% YoY to ₹2.78 crore, with the entire profit driven by asset sales and other income, not core operations.

For a traditional cosmetics maker, a sharp profit jump should signal strong demand. Paramount Cosmetics’ September quarter tells a different story, where the bottom line was saved by selling the factory, not by selling more bindis.

Revenue fell 68% from a year ago to ₹2.78 crore, continuing a slide from the previous quarter. Yet net profit more than doubled to ₹0.27 crore. The scorecard shows a business that is shrinking but appears more profitable.

Where the profit really came from

Flash Finance notes that none of the pre-tax profit came from the core business. It was all from other income and one-off items. Other income surged 241% YoY to ₹0.78 crore, largely from the sale of its factory to a related party.

The company also slashed finance costs by 87% after fully repaying bank debt, as reported by Flash Finance. Depreciation fell to zero after the asset sale. These moves lifted the net profit margin to 9.7%, from 1.3% a year ago.

The cash flow disconnect

A profitable quarter still burned cash. According to Scanx.trade, operating cash flow for the half-year was an outflow of ₹3.99 crore. Working capital changes, including a drop in payables, drained cash even as the profit line improved.

The asset sale brought in ₹4.51 crore, per Multibagg.ai, providing a temporary cash buffer. With cash balances low and core revenue in freefall, the sustainability of this model is in question.

What comes after the sale?

Management has not provided specific guidance. The focus appears to be on restructuring, with plans to raise authorized share capital eightfold to ₹39 crore, as noted in an EGM notice.

A proposed ₹50 crore annual related party transaction with Paramount Kumkum, flagged by Flash Finance, is far larger than current revenue. This suggests a strategic pivot, but the core business trajectory remains deeply uncertain.

Key Points

  • Paramount Cosmetics' Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹0.27 crore was entirely supported by one-off asset sales and a surge in other income.
  • Revenue from operations collapsed 68% year-on-year to ₹2.78 crore, indicating severe weakness in core sales.
  • The company generated negative operating cash flow of ₹3.99 crore for H1 FY27 despite reporting a profit, highlighting a quality of earnings concern.
  • With the factory sold and debt cleared, future quarters will rely solely on operating performance, which is currently in steep decline.

Hexa Perspective

The quarter presents a clean break from the past, but not a turnaround. Selling fixed assets and clearing debt simplifies the balance sheet, yet it leaves a much smaller operating company.

Investors are now looking at a business generating less than ₹3 crore quarterly revenue. The proposed capital increase and large related-party deal point to a potential reinvention, but execution risk is high. Until the core revenue decline stabilizes, the reported profit is a misleading indicator of health.
