The media company reported its second consecutive quarter with zero operating revenue, while its net loss expanded sequentially on higher expenses.
Filmcity Media posted a net loss of ₹0.08 crore for Q2 FY27 with no revenue from operations. The loss widened from the previous quarter as expenses surged, funded by idle capital from a recent preferential issue.
For Filmcity Media, the September quarter was another period defined by what did not happen. The company generated zero revenue from its core media and consultancy businesses for the second quarter in a row, leaving its financials to reflect only the cost of staying afloat.
The numbers tell a story of a company in a holding pattern. Revenue has been nil for five consecutive quarters. The net loss widened to ₹0.08 crore from ₹0.06 crore in the June quarter, a 33% sequential increase.

While operations are dormant, expenses are not. Total expenses surged 164% year-on-year and 154% quarter-on-quarter to ₹0.14 crore. According to a report by ScanX, this spike was driven by a sharp rise in 'other expenses', which jumped to ₹12.38 lakh in Q2 from ₹4.07 lakh in Q1.
The company's only income was ₹0.06 crore from other sources. ScanX notes this comes from fixed deposits, where ₹1.20 crore of funds raised through a March 2026 preferential issue sits idle, earning a 6.25% return.
Management has signaled a pivot, changing the company's name to Filmcity Media and Consultancy Limited in September. This reflects a stated intent to diversify into investment and infrastructure consulting. Yet, the capital raised for this new venture remains largely unutilized.
The broader media landscape is shifting rapidly toward digital and connected TV, as highlighted in an Economic Times report. Filmcity's traditional magazine publishing and TV production model faces severe structural headwinds, complicating any restart.
Key Points
This quarter confirms Filmcity Media is in a state of suspended animation. The business generates no revenue, while corporate expenses and a small interest income define the P&L. The critical question is execution.
The company has capital but has not deployed it into the new ventures it has promised. Until it does, losses will continue to accrue, slowly eroding the cash buffer. Investors are left waiting for a operational catalyst that remains entirely prospective.
