Infrax Renewable (INFRAX) Q2 FY27 Profit Lags as Costs Outpace a 204% Revenue Surge

Infrax Renewable's revenue more than tripled year-on-year in Q2 FY27, but a sharper rise in expenses halved its net profit margin to 8.9%.

By Vinayak Gandhi, CFA · Created 7 November 2026

Infrax Renewable's Q2 FY27 saw revenue jump 204% to ₹79 crore, yet profit grew only 75% to ₹7 crore. The net profit margin fell sharply as costs for larger projects rose, highlighting a growth phase where scale precedes profitability.

For a fast-growing solar EPC firm, the quarter's test is whether revenue growth translates into profit. Infrax Renewable's September quarter delivered a staggering top-line leap but left profitability far behind.

Revenue surged 204% year-on-year to ₹79 crore. Profit grew a slower 75% to ₹7 crore. The net profit margin more than halved, dropping 650 basis points to 8.9%.

Why profit lagged the revenue jump

Expenses grew even faster than sales, up 229% to ₹69 crore. According to a Multibagg.ai analysis, this reflects the working capital demands of larger commercial ground-mount projects. These require more inventory and extended customer credit, tying up cash before payment arrives.

The company's cash conversion cycle stretched to 102 days in FY26, reports Screener.in. Operating cash flow turned negative that year as trade receivables ballooned. Growth is currently a capital-intensive endeavor, not a cash-generating one.

The order book that fuels the sprint

This spending funds a visible pipeline. Infrax had an ongoing order book of ₹62.44 crore across 3,100 projects as of late August, notes Ipocentral.in. Execution of these orders drove the quarter's revenue, but also its upfront costs.

Management is betting on backward integration to ease future pressure. The IPO prospectus earmarks ₹12.29 crore to set up manufacturing lines for solar structures and recycling. This could reduce input costs and supplier dependency over time.

A stretched balance sheet for now

The funding plan projects a working capital gap nearing ₹49 crore by FY28. It intends to cover this with IPO proceeds and, critically, internal accruals. Delivering those accruals depends on converting today's revenue surge into sustained profit.

Promoter holding fell from 71% to 50% in the September quarter, as per Indmoney.com, with retail ownership rising to 50%. The market is watching to see if operational leverage will finally kick in.

Key Points

  • Revenue tripled year-on-year to ₹79 crore, but profit growth of 75% to ₹7 crore was significantly slower.
  • The net profit margin contracted sharply to 8.9% from 15.4% a year ago, as total expenses rose 229%.
  • Execution of a large order book is driving growth but straining working capital, with negative operating cash flow in FY26.
  • Future profitability hinges on managing project costs and realizing benefits from planned backward integration.

Hexa Perspective

The quarter paints a classic scale-up tension. Revenue is exploding on the back of a solid order book, yet the cost of funding that growth is eroding margins. The path to sustainable profitability runs through two gates: first, improving cash conversion on existing projects to fund new ones internally; second, successful execution of the manufacturing capex to gain cost control. Until then, high growth will likely continue to come with diluted returns. Investors are essentially funding future efficiency with today's margin.
