The healthcare BPM firm posted 22.5% revenue growth but saw profit margins compress, highlighting the cost pressures in a high-growth quarter.
Sagility's Q2 FY27 saw revenue surge 22.5% year-on-year, yet profit growth lagged at 13.3%. The gap points to margin pressure from wage hikes and acquisition costs, even as the company raises its full-year EBITDA guidance.
For Sagility, a business built on managing the complex revenue cycles of US healthcare payers, growth is rarely the question. The constant is demand from clients under cost pressure. The test each quarter is whether that top-line expansion translates into bottom-line gains. In Q2 FY27, revenue passed with a 22.5% year-on-year jump, but profit growth trailed at 13.3%, revealing a margin squeeze beneath the headline win.
Revenue reached ₹2,032 crore, up 3.5% sequentially. Profit after tax was ₹284 crore, a 31.1% jump from the previous quarter. That sharp sequential profit rise, however, is partly a base effect, as Investing.com notes Q1 carried a one-off minimum wage charge. The more telling comparison is year-on-year, where a 110-basis-point drop in net profit margin to 14.0% shows costs rising faster than sales.

The growth was broad-based, driven by expansion with national payers and mid-market clients, according to the company's investor deck. Yet, the journey from revenue to profit was pinched. Management cited ongoing wage pressures in Karnataka and Telangana, with a full-quarter impact felt in Q2. Furthermore, amortisation of acquisition-related intangibles dragged on net profit. Stockwatch.live reported that Sagility's own adjusted PAT, which excludes such items, grew only 8.1% year-on-year, materially behind the revenue line.
Despite the margin compression, operational efficiency provided a counterweight. Sagility reported its highest adjusted EBITDA margin in six quarters at 26.3%. This strength prompted management to raise its full-year FY27 adjusted EBITDA margin guidance to 25-26% from 24-25%, as noted by Investing.com. The revenue growth outlook remains unchanged at low double-digits in constant currency.
The company is also acting to bolster its slower-growing provider segment, which accounted for just 10.1% of Q2 revenue. Its acquisition of Chirok Health LLC, designed to fill a gap in mid-cycle revenue solutions, aims to accelerate growth there. For now, the story is one of strong top-line execution meeting persistent cost headwinds.
Key Points
Sagility's quarter confirms the durability of demand in its core payer business but also the fragility of margins in a people-intensive model facing wage inflation. The raised EBITDA guidance suggests management believes it can manage these pressures through operating leverage and cost discipline. The key watchpoint is whether the company can narrow the gap between revenue and profit growth as the one-time wage impact normalises and the Chirok acquisition starts contributing. For now, the stock's premium valuation of 20.2x P/E, against an industry average of 17.9x, prices in the growth but also demands that margin recovery follows.
