Esconet's Q2 profit surged nearly tenfold year-on-year, driven by a sharp margin expansion to 8.6% as the IT infrastructure firm prioritises profitability over top-line growth.
Esconet Technologies reported a 969% year-on-year surge in net profit for Q2 FY27, with revenue up 14%. The company's net profit margin expanded sharply to 8.6%, reflecting a strategic shift towards higher-margin business.
For Esconet Technologies, a systems integrator navigating thin hardware margins, the story has shifted from chasing sales to securing profit. The second quarter shows that pivot in action, with earnings surging nearly tenfold on the back of a dramatic margin expansion.
The numbers tell a clear story of profitability taking precedence. Revenue grew a healthy 13.7% year-on-year to ₹165.24 crore. But net profit exploded by 969% to ₹14.22 crore. The net profit margin, a mere 0.9% a year ago, jumped to 8.6%.

Management's stated focus for FY27 is building margins, not top-line growth. The Newboard report notes the company earns a wider slice on its own HexaData servers versus low-margin integration work. A favourable shift in this business mix, coupled with effective cost control and stable hardware pricing, powered the margin leap from 5.6% last quarter.
This performance also comes from a low base. The year-ago quarter's 0.9% margin was depressed by intense competition and component cost pressures the company could not fully pass on. With those pressures easing, the operating leverage from higher revenue is now flowing to the bottom line.
Can Esconet hold these margins? Management suggested on the August earnings call, cited by Inve.money, that the strong EBITDA margin from Q1 (8.55%) is sustainable for the rest of FY27 and potentially FY28. The key is continuing to scale higher-margin segments like its indigenous HexaData hardware and cybersecurity services.
However, the business model carries inherent volatility. A single large, low-margin deal from a government or strategic account can still swing quarterly numbers, as noted by Newboard. The company also runs with a short order book, estimated at ₹20-25 crore in August, leaving little visibility beyond 60-90 days.
Management has been clear it is not committing to aggressive growth numbers this year. The focus remains on margin improvement, turning around the cybersecurity unit, and securing MeitY empanelment for its ZeaCloud platform to unlock government business. According to Arthneeti, the company has no major capex plans and does not intend to raise funds this year.
The broader demand environment is supportive. Government and research IT infrastructure spending is in a major upcycle, with data centre capacity projected to expand rapidly. Esconet's positioning as an NVIDIA Elite Partner and a Make-in-India server manufacturer aligns it with this trend.
Key Points
The quarter marks a decisive turn towards profitability, validating management's stated shift in strategy. The margin expansion is impressive but springs from a very low base; the true test is whether an 8-9% net margin can be maintained as the business scales.
The valuation at a P/E of 69.7, a 217% premium to the industry, prices in a continuation of this high-margin trajectory. Investors are betting the company can consistently deliver these returns while reducing its reliance on low-margin, lumpy integration deals. Any reversion to thinner margins or a significant slowdown in government spending would challenge that premium.
