The logistics firm's Q1 FY27 saw a severe sequential profit drop despite cost cuts, with high interest expenses consuming most operating gains.
Accuracy Shipping's Q1 FY27 revenue fell 13% year-on-year to ₹141 crore, while net profit plunged 84% from the previous quarter to ₹0.34 crore. High finance costs and a sharp decline in its petroleum segment offset operational margin improvements.
For a logistics company navigating shifting trade winds, the first quarter was about holding the line on costs as revenue retreated. Accuracy Shipping's Q1 FY27 showed a business tightening its operations while its top line contracted for a second straight quarter, leaving profit a fraction of what it was three months ago.
The numbers tell a story of dual pressures. Revenue fell 13% from a year ago to ₹140.81 crore. Sequentially, the drop was 12.5%, continuing a decline from the March quarter's ₹160.85 crore. The real squeeze was at the bottom line: net profit plummeted 84% quarter-on-quarter to just ₹0.34 crore, yielding a net profit margin of a razor-thin 0.2%.

A sharp 81% year-on-year collapse in the petroleum segment revenue, reported by FlashFinance, was a major drag on the top line. Yet, at the operating level, the company defended itself. Management, cited by Multibagg.ai, pointed to a stronger business mix and cost discipline. Operative expenses fell more sharply than revenue, helping gross profit rise 21%.
This operating improvement, however, never reached shareholders. Finance costs of ₹3.52 crore, a figure from FlashFinance, were over ten times the quarterly net profit. This heavy interest burden, stemming from a debt-to-equity ratio of 1.08, absorbed nearly all the operational gains, compressing the net margin.
The quarter underscored a strategic shift. Logistics services now contribute 91% of EBITDA, up from 67% a year ago, as per a Scanx.trade report. The company is also betting on a new container freight station (CFS) in Kandla. Its subsidiary received a Letter of Intent for the project, which management expects to generate ₹175–200 crore in annual revenue at peak capacity, according to Business Standard.
This expansion comes as the broader sector faces headwinds. ICRA projects 8-10% revenue growth for the road logistics sector in FY27 but warns that rising fuel costs could squeeze operating margins by 150-200 basis points. For Accuracy Shipping, the immediate challenge is internal: making its operating leverage count by managing its debt load.
Key Points
The quarter reveals a company caught in a transition. Operational discipline is showing results above the interest line, with costs falling and the mix improving. Yet, the capital structure is working against it, turning operating gains into negligible shareholder earnings.
The planned Kandla CFS is a clear long-term growth lever, but it requires ₹25 crore in capital expenditure, potentially adding to debt in the near term. The path to sustainable profit growth isn't just about winning new business; it's about ensuring that the cost of capital doesn't continue to eclipse the returns from operations. Investors are left weighing a promising operational reset against a persistent financial overhang.
