The e-commerce SaaS leader posted a 15% revenue jump in Q2 FY27, but its net profit margin slipped as planned spending on AI and sales continued.
Unicommerce eSolutions reported a 15% year-on-year rise in revenue to ₹59.1 crore for Q2 FY27. Profit grew 10.6%, but the net profit margin contracted due to front-loaded investments in AI and sales expansion.
Unicommerce eSolutions, the backbone for thousands of online sellers, is in a deliberate spending phase. The quarter shows the trade-off: a 15% jump in revenue, but profit growth that lags behind as the company funds its next leg of expansion.
Revenue reached ₹59.1 crore in Q2 FY27, up 15% from a year ago and sequentially from the previous quarter. Profit after tax grew 10.6% year-on-year to ₹6.39 crore. The net profit margin, however, narrowed by 50 basis points to 10.8%, showing that costs grew faster than the top line.

The revenue acceleration was broad-based. According to reports from ForgeUp and Tulsian AI, the core Uniware platform grew 14.5% year-on-year, while the Shipway logistics arm grew 15.7%. The company added 121 new enterprise clients, a 17.5% increase from Q2 FY26.
This growth is not free. Total expenses surged 18.9% year-on-year, as reported by Entrackr. Employee benefit costs, the largest line item, rose 23.4%. The spending is part of a conscious plan to invest in AI-led products, senior talent, and sales capacity, with most of it front-loaded into the first half of the fiscal year.
A key tension lies in the consolidation. While the standalone Uniware business is highly profitable, its subsidiary Shipway is still in investment mode. ScanX Trade reported that Shipway Technology reported a net loss of ₹1.07 crore for the quarter. This loss at the subsidiary level is a primary reason consolidated profit growth of 10.6% trailed the standalone profit growth of over 27%.
Management, cited by Investor Feed on X, expects Shipway to turn adjusted EBITDA profitable in Q3 FY27 and PAT profitable in Q4 FY27. The path to consolidated margin improvement runs directly through this subsidiary's journey to breakeven.
The company's guidance offers a clear timeline for the payoff. Management expects the pace of incremental investments to moderate in the second half of FY27, leading to an improved profitability trajectory. They are confident Uniware can deliver over 15% growth and Shipway over 20% growth from Q4 FY27 onwards.
Financially, the company has the fuel for this spend. It generated ₹23.9 crore in operating cash flow in H1 FY27 and held a cash balance of ₹104.4 crore as of September 30, as noted by ForgeUp.
Key Points
The quarter confirms Unicommerce is executing a textbook growth investment play. The core Uniware engine is powerful and sticky, but the company is willingly trading near-term margin points to seed its newer platforms and AI capabilities.
The bet is that these investments will convert into market share and cross-selling opportunities, particularly for Shipway. The next two quarters are critical to validate this thesis. Investors are paying a significant premium for this future growth, with the stock trading at a P/E of 43.5 against an industry average of 17.9. The stock's reaction will hinge less on the current margin compression and more on the visibility of Shipway's turnaround and the durability of Uniware's double-digit growth.
