NTPC Green Energy reported a strong Q1 FY27, with revenue surging 62.7% year-on-year to ₹1,107 crore. Profit rebounded sharply, rising 54.6% from the previous quarter.

NTPC Green Energy delivered a powerful start to fiscal 2027, with revenue surging past the ₹1,100 crore mark. The strong top-line growth, coupled with a sharp sequential rebound in profit, signals robust operational momentum for India's leading renewable energy developer.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 2026 soared 62.7% year-on-year to ₹1,106.9 crore, while profit after tax grew 38.3% to ₹304.8 crore. The growth was even more pronounced on a sequential basis, with revenue rising 21.3% and profit jumping 54.6% from the March 2026 quarter. This performance marks a significant recovery from a volatile period last year, as shown in the quarterly trend below.

Despite the strong profit growth, the company's net profit margin of 27.5% was 490 basis points lower than the 32.4% margin recorded in the same quarter last year. This indicates that while the business is scaling rapidly, profitability per rupee of revenue has come under some pressure. The trailing twelve-month (TTM) net profit margin stands at 18.4%, reflecting the impact of the weaker third quarter of FY26.

Key Points

  • The company's stock closed at ₹91.93 on the results date, having declined 8.8% over the past year.
  • On a TTM basis, the company generated revenue of ₹3,285.1 crore and profit of ₹605.7 crore.
  • For the full financial year FY26, NTPC Green Energy reported revenue of ₹2,858.4 crore with a net profit margin of 18.3%.

While the quarter shows impressive growth, the elevated price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 149.1, which trades at a significant premium to the industry, suggests the market had already priced in high expectations for future expansion. The immediate challenge is to sustain this revenue momentum while defending profitability in a competitive green energy market.
