Mercator's Q4 FY24 saw an astronomical revenue increase, but this was accompanied by a sharp rise in quarterly losses. The annual picture shows a continued contraction in both top and bottom lines.

Mercator Limited's Q4 FY24 results present a stark contrast: an extraordinary surge in quarterly revenue was completely overshadowed by a ballooning net loss. While the top line exploded, the bottom line deteriorated dramatically, highlighting significant challenges within the diversified maritime and energy group.

The final quarter of FY24 saw revenue leap to ₹8.21 crore from a near-zero base in the previous quarter and the same period last year. This represents a staggering year-on-year and sequential growth of over 82,000%. However, profit for the quarter plunged to a loss of ₹223.23 crore, a massive increase in losses compared to the ₹0.49 crore loss in Q4 FY23 and the ₹0.29 crore loss in Q3 FY24.

The full-year perspective tempers the dramatic quarterly revenue spike. For FY23, the company reported a 99.1% decline in annual revenue to just ₹0.05 crore, down from ₹5.2 crore in FY22. Annual profit, while improving from a loss of ₹19.54 crore in FY22, remained deeply negative at a loss of ₹2.46 crore for FY23.

Key Points

  • The trailing twelve-month (TTM) revenue stands at ₹8.25 crore, with a TTM loss of ₹224.07 crore.
  • The company's net worth remains deeply negative at -₹1,346.95 crore.
  • Key financial health metrics are under pressure, with a Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) of -0.99% and a current ratio of 0.15.

The quarterly revenue jump suggests a potential one-off event or operational restart, but the severe and widening losses indicate underlying profitability remains a critical hurdle for Mercator's recovery.
