IDFC First Bank reported a 153% surge in quarterly profit, driven by a sharp expansion in net profit margin. Revenue grew a steady 14.6% year-on-year.

IDFC First Bank's earnings for the June quarter show a powerful rebound in profitability, with net profit more than doubling from a year ago. This surge was driven by a significant expansion in the bank's net profit margin, even as revenue growth remained steady.

Revenue for the quarter stood at ₹11,051 crore, a 4.7% increase from the previous quarter and a 14.6% rise compared to the same period last year. The real story, however, is in the bottom line. Profit after tax soared to ₹1,148 crore, marking a staggering 153.1% year-on-year and 247.2% quarter-on-quarter increase. This dramatic profit growth reflects a sharp improvement in net profit margin, which expanded by 570 basis points year-on-year to reach 10.4%.

The bank's performance over the last five quarters highlights its improving trajectory, particularly in profitability.

This strong quarterly performance has lifted the trailing-twelve-month (TTM) net profit margin to 5.5%, up from the 4.0% reported for the full financial year FY26. The stock has responded positively to the bank's operational improvements, delivering a 24.6% return over the past year. The market's optimism is also reflected in the valuation, with the stock trading at a significant premium to the industry average. The key question now is whether the bank can sustain this elevated level of profitability in the coming quarters.
