The cloud and data centre provider posted steady revenue growth and a margin improvement, but a sharp sequential decline highlights its pivot to AI infrastructure.
ESDS Software Solution reported a 7.3% rise in Q1 FY27 revenue to ₹133.7 crore, with profit growing 14% to ₹29.3 crore. The company is shifting its revenue mix toward higher-margin Infrastructure-as-a-Service ahead of a major AI contract.
For ESDS Software Solution, the first quarter of FY27 was a period of steady growth overshadowed by a major transition. The cloud and data centre provider delivered a solid year-on-year performance while navigating a sharp sequential drop as it pivots its business toward capitalising on the global AI infrastructure boom.
Revenue for the quarter ended June 2026 stood at ₹133.7 crore, a 7.3% increase from the same period last year. Profit after tax grew at a faster clip of 14% to ₹29.3 crore. This pushed the net profit margin up by 130 basis points to 21.9%, indicating improved operational efficiency.

| Net Profit Margin (%) | 21.9YoY +6.3% | 20.6 |
The quarter's story is best understood by looking at the previous three months. Revenue fell 20% and profit dropped 57% compared to Q4 FY26. According to reports from Whalesbook and ScanX, this steep sequential decline was due to the non-recurrence of one-time technical design services recorded in the prior quarter by a subsidiary. This highlights the lumpy nature of project-based income that ESDS is moving away from.
The company is deliberately transitioning its revenue mix. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), which includes cloud hosting and colocation, now contributes 51% of total revenue, as noted by ScanX. Managed Services saw explosive growth of 157% year-on-year. This shift toward more predictable, subscription-like income is central to the margin improvement, as IaaS typically carries better profitability, especially with rising demand for GPU infrastructure.
The near-term outlook is dominated by the impending contribution from the ‘Sharon AI’ deal. Management disclosed on an earnings call, reported by ScanX, that this contract for 8,200 GPUs in Sydney is locked for seven years at fixed rates. Revenue is expected to begin in November (Q3 FY27). This project is part of a massive ₹3,000 crore domestic order book and a larger international pipeline aiming to deploy over 50,000 GPUs.
Key Points
ESDS is in a clear transition phase, trading volatile project income for a more stable, infrastructure-led model. The improving margin on a yearly basis is a positive signal that this shift is gaining traction. However, the steep sequential drop is a reminder of the earnings volatility that can persist during this change.
The next few quarters will be a critical test of execution. The commencement of the Sharon AI revenue stream will validate the company's massive AI infrastructure bets. Success there could smooth out quarterly volatility and justify the current strategic pivot, while any delays would keep the focus on the company's ability to manage lumpy legacy income streams.
