The textile firm's revenue fell 48% sequentially to just ₹7 crore as its core assets were sold off before its insolvency process began.
Bombay Rayon Fashions reported a quarterly revenue of just ₹7.27 crore, a near 50% drop from the prior quarter. The company is under a corporate insolvency process, with liquidation ordered in late 2023.
For Bombay Rayon Fashions, the September quarter was less about running a business and more about managing its final collapse. The company reported revenue of just ₹7.27 crore, a near-halving from the ₹14.04 crore it managed three months prior, as it operated as a shell awaiting liquidation.
The numbers trace a company in its final stages. Revenue has fallen off a cliff from the ₹720 crore reported in March, and losses, while narrowing sequentially, remain deep.

| Metric | CurrentQ2 FY23 | PreviousQ1 FY23 |
|---|---|---|

| Profit (₹ Cr) | -36.69 | -62.91 |
The revenue collapse is not an operational slump but a corporate dissolution. According to a detailed report by TradingView, the company's core Tarapur plant and all its brands were transferred to a new entity, BRFL Textiles Pvt Ltd (BTPL), in a slump sale back in September 2020. This left the listed entity, BRFL, as a shell holding nearly ₹7,359 crore of debt. By the time it was admitted into insolvency in June 2022, there was little business left to report.
The Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) was underway during this quarter. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) records show the resolution professional invited plans in October 2022. However, no viable plan emerged. The NCLT ordered the company into liquidation in November 2023. The liquidator later advertised the entire company for sale with a reserve price of just ₹18.32 crore, as noted by TradingView.
The reported loss of ₹36.69 crore is an accounting figure for an entity in limbo. It does not reflect a going concern. The balance sheet quality metrics are catastrophic, with a negative return on capital employed and an interest cover deep in negative territory. These numbers are artifacts of a failed corporate structure, not indicators of a viable textile operation.
Key Points
This quarter's report is a postscript. The story of Bombay Rayon Fashions as a textile manufacturer ended years ago with the transfer of its assets. The current figures are merely the administrative tail of a liquidation process, where the outcome for equity holders is almost certainly a total write-off. The only remaining question is the final recovery rate for financial creditors from the sale of residual assets, a process that was still years away from conclusion when these results were filed.
