The healthcare provider's Q1 FY27 revenue rose 21.6% YoY, but profit fell sharply by 68.7%, reflecting significant margin pressure.
Aster DM Healthcare posted robust revenue growth for Q1 FY27, but profitability took a severe hit. The company's net profit margin compressed sharply from the previous quarter.
Aster DM Healthcare delivered a quarter of contrasting fortunes. While revenue growth remained strong, profitability came under severe pressure, with net profit falling sharply both year-on-year and sequentially. This points to a significant compression in margins during the period.
The company's revenue for Q1 FY27 stood at ₹1,310.68 crore, a healthy 21.6% increase from the same quarter last year and a 10.9% rise from the previous quarter. However, profit after tax (PAT) plummeted to ₹29.28 crore, marking a steep 68.7% decline year-on-year and an 80.9% drop from Q4 FY26. Consequently, the net profit margin shrank to just 2.2%, down from 8.7% a year ago and 13.0% in the prior quarter.
A look at the last five quarters shows the volatility in profitability, even as revenue has trended upward.

Key Points
Despite the robust top-line performance, the sharp drop in profitability has resulted in a high price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 89.6, representing a 39.9% premium to the industry average. The immediate challenge for management is to demonstrate it can restore margins closer to historical levels while sustaining revenue momentum.
