3M India posted a strong 21.6% YoY profit growth for Q1 FY25, driven by a 270-basis-point expansion in net profit margin, while revenue saw a marginal decline.
3M India delivered a quarter of contrasting performance, with a sharp rise in profitability offsetting a slight dip in sales. For the quarter ended June 2024, the company's net profit grew a robust 21.6% year-on-year to ₹157.15 crore, even as revenue was virtually flat, declining just 0.3% to ₹1,046.57 crore. This was driven by a significant expansion in net profit margin, which rose 270 basis points to 15.0% from 12.3% a year ago.
However, the quarter also showed a sequential slowdown. Compared to the previous quarter (Q4 FY24), both revenue and profit declined by 4.4% and 9.1%, respectively, with the net profit margin easing from 15.8%. The trailing-twelve-month (TTM) net profit margin stands at 14.6%, indicating the latest quarter's margin remains healthy relative to the recent average.
A look at the last five quarters reveals the company's improving profitability trend, even as revenue has moved within a relatively narrow band.
