Pearl Global's Q1 Profit Slump Mars Strong Revenue Growth

The apparel manufacturer posted a 27% jump in sales but saw profit fall by half, squeezing margins ahead of a planned stock split.

Pearl Global Industries reported a sharp divergence in its Q1 FY27 results. While revenue grew strongly, profit more than halved year-on-year, putting pressure on the company's net profit margin.

Pearl Global Industries began its fiscal year with a quarter of contrasting fortunes. The apparel manufacturer delivered robust revenue growth but saw its profitability contract sharply, a trend that has persisted for several quarters. This mixed performance comes as the company's board considers a stock split of its equity shares.

The first quarter of FY27 saw revenue climb to ₹339.6 crore, a healthy 27.4% increase from the same period last year and an 11.6% sequential rise from Q4 FY26. However, profit after tax (PAT) told a different story, falling 51.9% year-on-year to ₹12.4 crore and declining 12.3% from the previous quarter. This divergence squeezed the net profit margin down to 3.7%, a significant drop from 9.7% in Q1 FY26.

A look at the last five quarters reveals the pressure on profitability has been building.

While quarterly revenue has shown a recent uptick, profit has remained subdued in the ₹12–15 crore range for the past four quarters, well below the ₹25.8 crore posted a year ago. The trailing twelve-month (TTM) net profit margin stands at 4.8%, indicating the latest quarter's margin is below the recent average.

Key Points

  • The company maintains a solid balance sheet, with a return on equity (ROE) of 20.8% and a manageable debt-to-equity ratio of 0.47.
  • The stock has delivered exceptional multi-year returns, gaining 543.5% over three years, and trades at a P/E of 22.6, which is a 35% discount to its industry average.

Pearl Global's immediate challenge is to translate its growing top line back into stronger bottom-line performance in the quarters ahead.
