Dalmia Bharat's Q1 Profit Halves Despite Revenue Growth

The cement maker's revenue rose 7% year-on-year, but net profit fell sharply as margins contracted.

Dalmia Bharat reported a 7% rise in Q1 FY27 revenue to ₹3,890 crore, but net profit plunged 51% to ₹192 crore, reflecting significant margin pressure.

Dalmia Bharat's first-quarter results for FY27 present a mixed picture. While the cement producer managed to grow its top line, profitability came under severe pressure, with net profit more than halving compared to the same period last year.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 2026 stood at ₹3,890 crore, a 7% increase year-on-year. However, net profit fell sharply to ₹192 crore, down 51.4% from Q1 FY26. This divergence highlights a significant squeeze on margins. The company's net profit margin contracted to 4.9%, a drop of 600 basis points from the 10.9% margin it held a year ago. Sequentially, the performance also weakened, with both revenue and profit declining from the previous quarter.

The recent trajectory shows volatile profitability. After a strong Q1 FY26, margins dipped in the following quarters before a partial recovery in Q4 FY26, only to fall again this quarter.

Key Points

  • The trailing twelve-month (TTM) net profit margin stands at 6.3%, below the 7.7% recorded for the full FY26.
  • The stock has declined 18% over the past year, trading at a P/E of 29.6, which is a 13% discount to the industry average.
  • The company maintains a moderate debt-to-equity ratio of 0.38 and a current ratio of 1.54.

The immediate challenge for Dalmia Bharat is to stabilize its profitability and demonstrate that the margin compression seen this quarter is not a sustained trend.
