Eastern Silk Industries saw quarterly revenue grow year-on-year, but profit swung to a loss, highlighting a volatile earnings pattern for the textile company.

Eastern Silk Industries reported a mixed set of earnings for the first quarter of FY26. While revenue grew, profit fell sharply both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, swinging into negative territory after a strong performance in the preceding quarter.

The company's revenue for the quarter ended June 2025 rose to ₹7.13 crore, marking a 7.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Sequentially, revenue also improved by 8.5% from the March quarter. However, profit after tax (PAT) told a different story, declining by 53.7% year-on-year to a loss of ₹0.19 crore. The sequential drop was even more pronounced, with profit falling over 105% from a profit of ₹3.54 crore in Q4 FY25. This resulted in a net profit margin of -2.7% for the latest quarter.

A look at the recent quarterly performance shows significant volatility in earnings.

Despite the quarterly loss, the trailing twelve-month (TTM) profit stands at ₹4.18 crore on revenue of ₹25.98 crore, translating to a healthier TTM net profit margin of 16.1%. This suggests the recent quarter's loss is an outlier within a broader, more profitable period.

Key Points

  • The company maintains a strong liquidity position with a current ratio of 4.49 and a moderate debt-to-equity ratio of 0.63.
  • The stock trades at a significant discount to its industry, with a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 4.3 compared to the industry average of 53.7.

The immediate challenge for Eastern Silk is to translate its improving top line into consistent bottom-line results, moving beyond the pattern of quarterly profit swings.
